Nary Ward

BIO - Nari Ward è nato nel 1963 a Saint Andrews in Giamaica. Già a dodici anni è negli Stati Uniti prima a Brooklyn, quindi nel New Jersey e attualmente a Harlem. Il suo lavoro si sviluppa a partire dai primi Anni Novanta e consiste perlopiù in grandi installazioni e sculture in cui utilizza materiali di uso quotidiano e scarti e residui di oggetti di consumo. La sua opera, che oscilla continuamente fra l’iconografia funeraria e il bricolage, si inscrive nella grande tradizione della cultura Afro-Americana, di cui al momento attuale egli è una delle voci più eloquenti, il suo più noto predecessore restando David Hammons. 

BIO - Nari Ward was born in 1963 in Saint Andrews in Jamaica. Already at the age of twelve he is in the United States first in Brooklyn, then in New Jersey and currently in Harlem. His work develops from the early nineties and mostly consists of large installations and sculptures in which he uses everyday materials and scraps and residues of consumer objects. His work, which constantly oscillates between funerary iconography and bricolage, is inscribed in the great tradition of African American culture, of which at the present time he is one of the most eloquent voices, his best-known predecessor remaining David Hammons.
