Carsten Höller

BIO - Carsten Höller (Bruxelles, 1961) tedesco di origine vive e lavora a Stoccolma. Affermatosi nel mondo dell’arte negli anni Novanta, ha esposto in importanti istituzioni internazionali con numerose personali e collettive. Höller concepisce l’arte come strumento cognitivo ed usa le sue opere per trasformare l’esperienza sensoriale ed emozionale degli individui. Ama disorientare e provocare lo spettatore, alterando i meccanismi percettivi tradizionali. Al primo impatto, la caratteristica delle sue opere è l’aspetto ironico e giocoso, ma dietro l’innocente apparenza, Höller insinua elementi di dubbio ed incertezza, in grado di cambiare l’ordinaria percezione delle cose. Crea situazioni o esperienze che invitano il pubblico ad una partecipazione attiva.

Established in the art world in the Nineties, he has been exhibited in important international institutions with numerous solo and group exhibitions. Höller conceives art as a cognitive tool and uses his works to transform the sensory and emotional experience of individuals. He loves to disorient and provoke the viewer, altering traditional mechanisms. At first glance, the characteristic of his works is the ironic and playful aspect, but behind the innocent appearance, Höller insinuates elements of doubt and uncertainty, capable of changing the ordinary perception of things. He creates situations or experiences that invite the audience to actively participate.
