Louise Bourgeois She was born on 25th December 1911 in Paris and died on 31st May 2010 in New York. She is primarily known for her monumental sculptures and installations that explore themes such as family, sexuality and the unconscious. Growing up in a family that ran a tapestry restoration business, she contributed to the family workshop from a young age by drawing the missing elements in the tapestry scenes. This experience profoundly influenced her artistic practice. She participated in several artistic movements, including Surrealism from European emigrants, and from the 1960s onwards, she dedicated herself to metalworking. Her popularity increased with her participation in Documenta in 1992 and the Venice Biennale in 1993. Her works have been exhibited in numerous prestigious international institutions, consolidating her position as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.
