The edition VI Art to Artcurated by Jerome Sans and Pier Luigi Tazzi, It has renewed the dialogue between contemporary art and a territory rich in history and tradition, which has made the Tuscan landscape an almost mythical place. The invited artists have created original projects, designed to interact with the peculiarities and essence of each host city: a work, a context, a unique bond.
Marina Abramović he has brought his expressive power to Volterra, while Cai Guo-Qiang has transformed Colle di Val d'Elsa with its museum under the arches of the Ponte di San Francesco. Jannis Kounellis created a suggestive dialogue at Montalcino, Surasi Kusolwong animated Casole d'Elsa with its participatory approach, and Pascale Marthine Tayou has reinterpreted the heart of San Gimignano. Nari Ward, Finally, he united art and community in Poggibonsi.
This edition also featured special projects of great significance: Loris Cecchini created a permanent work for the Casa della Musica/Sonar in Colle di Val d’Elsa, while Gianni Motti made Arte all’Arte News. Finally, the Castello di Linari was the stage for works by Daniel Buren, Ottonella Mocellin, and José Antonio Hernández-Diez.
An edition that skillfully intertwined the present with the roots of the territory, transforming Tuscany into a large laboratory of contemporary art.

Not by chance, the Arte all'Arte project of the Associazione Arte Continua maintains, even in this 6th edition, the thematic sequence of Art-Architecture-Landscape that has characterized it since its inception (1996), with the conviction that the dialogue between different environmental situations, between the ancient and the contemporary, allows for the recovery of the spirit of the places and enhances the essence of the works presented.
This gives rise to an engaging project that aims to capture a diverse and vast audience, gratifying the most attentive and sophisticated connoisseurs and educating, or rather bringing closer to art, and thus to beauty, those who have not had the means or opportunity to be involved in similar experiences but are ready to welcome them and consider them an integral part of their territory and landscape.”
All’incrocio fra i sentieri dell’Arte, dell’Architettura e del Paesaggio si trovano il lavoro e l’impegno dell’Associazione Arte Continua, che ormai per il sesto anno consecutivo organizza Art to Art, un progetto di alto valore culturale il cui scopo è quello di valorizzare il territorio toscano, reinserendo nella progettazione dei suoi spazi l’attenzione all’estetica e all’arte, e in particolare all’arte contemporanea. L’obiettivo è quello di recuperare quella lunga tradizione che ha plasmato la nostra terra fino a farla diventare essa stessa un’opera d’arte, e trovare un nuovo punto di equilibrio fra città e campagna, tra globale e locale.
Gli artisti che anche quest’anno sono stati invitati a vivere e a “respirare” le città di Volterra, Colle di Val d’Elsa, Montalcino, Casole d’Elsa, San Gimignano e Poggibonsi, e a creare opere concepite esclusivamente per essere ospitate in questi luoghi, sono quanto di meglio l’arte contemporanea ha da offrire a livello internazionale, e i loro lavori sapranno offrire ancora una volta emozioni e suggestioni a quanti vorranno goderne.
Mai come in questa sesta edizione, le diverse culture di provenienza degli artisti sono state chiamate a confrontarsi e a interagire fra loro, estremizzando il confronto fra il territorio toscano, culla dell’arte rinascimentale e occidentale, e la dirompente apertura del tempo presente. La nostra è una regione molto attenta alle espressioni più dinamiche dell’arte contemporanea, e da sempre ha nel suo DNA il senso profondo dello scambio e della contaminazione culturale; Art to Art riesce a coniugare l’originalità e la novità con la tradizione, e a trarre dalle testimonianze delle culture del passato nuovo fermento e nuove ispirazioni per le produzioni artistiche.
Il patrimonio storico, artistico e culturale è del resto la ricchezza più grande della nostra regione: un capitale da proteggere e valorizzare, soprattutto laddove i grandi flussi del turismo non riescono a raggiungerlo e a fruirne. Il nostro obiettivo è quello di fare della Toscana un grande “museo” diffuso, formato da reti di centri monumentali e attività che fra loro dialogano e interagiscono. Una Toscana che sa guardare al suo meraviglioso passato e valorizzarlo, ma anche una Toscana che si rivolge al futuro con fiducia, proprio perché consapevole del valore e della quantità del suo patrimonio culturale storico e artistico. Iniziative come quella di Arte Continua non possono quindi che essere apprezzate perché rappresentano un passo concreto nella giusta direzione.
