Moataz Nasr

Moataz Nasr (Alessandria, 1961) è un artista egiziano la cui ricerca esplora temi legati all’identità, alla cultura e alle trasformazioni sociali, utilizzando media diversi come video, installazione, pittura e scultura.

In 2004 he participated in the 9th edition of Art to Art with the work Tears, realizzata a Siena e successivamente donata al comune di Colle di Val d’Elsa, un lavoro che riflette sulla memoria collettiva e sulle emozioni universali.

In 2013, the SMS San Michele degli Scalzi Exhibition Centre in Pisa and Villa Pacchiani in Santa Croce sull'Arno inaugurated Moataz Nasr. A bridge betweena Pisa and Santa Croce sull'Arnoa double solo exhibition that offered an in-depth look at his poetics and his ability to connect different places and cultures.

Moataz Nasr (Alexandria, 1961) is today one of the most interesting figures to emerge from the context of contemporary Egyptian art. Awarded in 2002 at the Dakar Biennale, Nasr exhibited the installation One Ear of Mud Another of Dough, work with which he won the Grand Prix of the Cairo Biennale. His work has conquered the international scene in just a couple of years: preferably using very simple expressive tools, Nasr always develops in his works a refined combination of political or social demands, references to traditional materials from the Arab world and sudden poetic openings full of emotion.
