Massimo Bartolini

Massimo Bartolini, ; using numerous media, has dedicated itself from the outset to the design of interventions capable of transforming space and, above all, the perception of it. The artistic practice embraces a variety of materials and techniques, ranging from sculpture to performance, from photography to video, with the aim of creating evocative spaces and anti-monumental sculptures.

Invited to participate in the ninth edition of Art to Art from the curators Achille Bonito Oliva e James Putnam, has completed a project in the field of olive trees under the Rocca di San Gimignano.

On the occasion of the charity auction for the project Art for Reforestation has generously donated the work The astrologer.

Massimo Bartolini He is an Italian artist born in 1962 in Cecina, in the province of Livorno, where he still lives and works. He studied surveying in Livorno from 1976 to 1981 and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence in 1989. He is currently a professor of visual arts at the University of Bolzano (UNIBZ), the NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti) in Milan, and the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. Among his solo exhibitions, notable ones include: the Centro Pecci for Contemporary Art in Prato in 2022, those hosted at the Merz Foundation in Turin in 2017, the Marino Marini Museum in Florence in 2015, the MART in Rovereto in 2014, the Institute of Contemporary Art in Sofia in 2010, the MAXXI in Rome in 2008, the GAM in Turin in 2005, the Serralves Museum – Museum of Contemporary Art in Porto in 2007, not to mention numerous solo shows at private galleries, primarily Massimo de Carlo, Milan, and Fifth Street Gallery, London. He has participated in several international events, including Manifesta 4 (Frankfurt, 2002), the second Santa Fe Biennale (1997), the Venice Biennale in 2013, 2005, and 1999, the Yokohama Triennale in 2011, and dOCUMENTA 13, Kassel, in 2012. In 2023, Bartolini was selected to represent Italy as the sole artist in the National Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024.
