The Teatro Vegetale is a work in progress, symbolically inaugurated with the creation of the “stone brain.” The work was conceived by the artist “with the purpose of enhancing and being enhanced by the place where it rises—the Fiumara del Sarmento—and to serve theatrical performances. A wide space capable of hosting a large number of people, yet with an intimate and meditative area nestled within it.”
It has the shape of a circle with a diameter of 125 m, made of natural elements—trees, bushes, stones—not in contrast with the surrounding landscape: “a place,” the artist notes, “that blends into the region’s landscape, created with vegetal elements that shape and define its parts.” The Teatro Vegetale is also a space where nature becomes a theater of itself, but also a landscape represented through human creation.
