On the occasion of the VIII edition of Arte all’Arte, curators Elio Grazioli and Hou Hanru invited the young photographer Erminia De Luca to create an installation inside the Museum of Landscape and Sharecropping in Buonconvento.
"A young photographer, Erminia De Luca works on themes ranging from floral still life to self-portrait, nude, and cloud landscapes, intertwining their symbolic and formal motifs and characteristics, particularly through the use of negatives or special treatments during the printing process. The body and physicality stand in a suggestive balance with the lightness and near-abstraction that the forms ultimately take on. The artist has written about herself: “I was born in a village above and below the mountain, in the heart of the Gargano, on a clear day of roses. My landscape has strong tones. In the light, sharp lines of separation. Contrasts in the air. The stone, with its hard cuts, freezes time in a moment of lightness.” These same themes are revisited in the special project for Arte all’Arte, for which she was invited to produce a photographic series of images of the Sienese territory as an artistic documentation of changes in the landscape, and in particular of the relationship between urban life and rural activity. The images are presented and will remain part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Sharecropping in Buonconvento. They will also serve as the iconographic complement to the Arte all’Arte Traveler’s Guide, a guide to the flavors and beauties of Tuscany that each year accompanies and completes the Arte all’Arte event—this year curated by Antonello Colonna."
