For Barclay

Per Barclay is a Norwegian art historian and sculptor who lives between Paris and Turin. Working with various materials and articles, including stone, steel, aluminium or glass, he composes installations with different fluids, such as water, wine or oil, which occupy large rooms, inviting the observer to reflect.

For the edition of Art to Art IXcurated by Achille Bonino Oliva and James Putnammade an installation, The Arch of Pierrewithin the Church of San Francesco in Montalcino.

Barclay also donated the work St Catherine #7 on the occasion of the project's fundraising auction Art for Reforestation.

For Barclay is a Norwegian artist born in Oslo in 1955. He studied art history in Norway and later in Italy, attending universities in Florence, Bologna and Rome. He currently lives and works between Turin and Oslo. His artistic practice ranges between photography, sculpture and installations, using materials such as oil, water, wine and blood to create reflective environments that explore the perception of space. One of his best known series is 'Oil Rooms', in which he fills architectural spaces with reflective liquids, transforming the environment and challenging the viewer's perception. Barclay has exhibited his works in numerous international institutions, including the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid. In 1990, he represented Norway at the Venice Biennale. His art is characterised by an exploration of tension and ambivalence, often using unusual or impure materials to create installations that evoke artificial landscapes and symbolic spaces.
