Adel Abdessemed (born 1971 in Constantine, Algeria) is a French artist of Berber origin who works in a wide range of media, including drawing, sculpture, performance, video and installation. His works deal with themes such as war, violence and religion, often with crude images that reflect the brutality of the contemporary world.

His works have been exhibited in prestigious museums and biennials, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris, MoMA PS1 in New York and the Venice Biennale (2003, 2009, 2015). In 2022 he inaugurated the solo exhibition An Imperial Message at the Rockbund Museum in Shanghai, confirming his role as a committed and provocative artist on the international scene.
