Gianni Motti

Gianni Motti (Sondrio, 1958) is a conceptual artist known for his provocative works and performance actions, often aimed at subverting conventions and stimulating critical reflection on society, politics, and the media. His work is developed through interventions that challenge the boundaries of art and the role of the artist, playing with irony and paradox.

In 2001, for the VI edition of Art to Art, he/she/it has realised a special project which connected the six Tuscan cities involved in the event, creating an ephemeral and relational work capable of weaving together territory, participation and narrative.

Gianni Motti (Sondrio, 1958) is an Italian sculptor who currently lives in Geneva. He distinguished himself in the late nineties for a series of interventions balancing on the edge of paradox and social critique, including the celebration of his own funeral and participating in place of the Indonesian delegate at a UN session in Geneva. In 2006, for his first retrospective at the Migros Museum in Zurich, he built a labyrinthine corridor that led visitors from the museum entrance to a rear exit. He participated in the Venice Biennale (2005), the Moscow Biennale (2007) and the São Paulo Biennial (2011). In 2012, he won the third edition of the Prix de la Société des Art in Geneva.
